LAHORE: In a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government believes in accountability and for that purpose it is working to introduce an accountability bill soon. Sharif met the Prime Minister at the latter’s Lahore residence earlier today. This is the first major meeting between the two leaders after the Supreme Court struck down the National Reconciliation Ordinance. The Prime Minister also stated that a constitutional committee was working to do away with the 17th amendment. Both leaders discussed the need to diffuse rising tensions between the PPP and the PML-N. Shahbaz Sharif also briefed the Prime Minister on development work underway in Punjab. — DawnNews
